Need some satorial help!

Getting married next week and it's a low key civil affair so wearing a normal suit but have to wear a tie (which I hate).

Problem is, a want to wear a shirt that is patterned and a bit of a poncey colour () and not sure what sort of tie to go for.

Any ideas would be most gratefully received. Wearing a medium grey suit.

Despite saying you have to wear a tie I would bin it and just go without. A decent shirt would be fine, I gave up wearing ties about 5 years ago and don't own any now and certainly am not planning to buy any!

If you really do have to wear one then if the shirt is poncy I would say go with a plain one of a different colour - google 'colour wheel' you will get this:



Pick the colour that opposite the prodominent colour on the shirt!So red shirt = green tie etc... Or, as in that pic go with one with a similar pattern or design.

I would really go with the no tie option though...!

I think he took one look at the shirt and assumed you bat for the other side old bean.

Oh, and yes, you do need some sartorial help, but I fear the need extends slightly further than the tie.

After wandering round a shopping mall for all of 5 minutes, I made the executive decision to not wear a tie at all.

Well, if SWMBO-after-next-week digs her Louboutins in, then the only way you'll get away with a patterned tie with a shirt like that is if it's the same fabric, and even then you need to be very careful - thin line between über-stylish and chav-chic if you go down that route.

Otherwise plain. Shirt's good tho (IMO).

Luckily, she has fully agreed. She know's that it's far better for me to get my way on this rather than make her life miserable moaning about having to go shopping.

Asterix mate, keep it simple, nice paul smith suit (skinny) no patterns etc let the lady shine which i'm sure she will

The suit is a very simple Ozwald Boateng job - plain cloth with a slim cut - fits as if tailored, hence why I'm introducing something with a bit of texture. The pattern on my shirt is no where near as busy as the one above.

Anyway - I like, as does the missus.
