Looks nice but you could get a good 987 S for that.

I must admit i don't know much about the 1 series although I really like the coupe. Anyway, the 3 series sport models (think it was called the ci sport) seemed to be more desirable and easier to sell on than the se model's, so i would imagine that the i series will be the same. If i were you i would try looking for an sport model.

Hope that helped.

I dont have any special knowledge about the cabriolet but I certainly enjoyed my 130 which is similar-ish I guess. It'll be fast and economical - so if it's a small cabriolet she wants and she likes the looks then go for it !

Price wise that looks very competetive to me - must be about the cheapest 6 cylinder 08 reg available.

The cream everywhere interior? biggrin

I've just bought a 1 Series but admittedly am not that clued up on the Cab versions. You're very unlikely to get anything outside the dealer network though so if thats what she wants, the spec is right and a national search on the BMW website doesn't show anything significantly cheaper then I guess its a reasonable deal. Personally though I'd have a good look at the interior because I saw one at the dealers like that, and the grey/black leather interior looks a lot better IMHO, especially the door trims and lower dash sections.

One thing I did notice though when shopping around over Christmas time was that prices have if anything risen since the new year because December was end of financial year for the dealers so they were offloading cars more cheaply than they are now. This possibly won't happen to the same extent again until next Christmas but if they have quarterly targets (only guessing) then end of March may see a few more deals around, but then I guess with a cab you can't leave it too late otherwise they become a more desirable purchase, so who knows.

ok i agree with the interior on that one. i personally much prefer black leather with the aluminium door and dash trim. yum yum.

Looks a nice car and reasonable money for the spec.
Personally i like the colour combo - light interior for when the roof is down on those sunny days (big assumption!) and heated seats for the winter.

I'm biased as i have Sapphire Black with Stone Beige, but things like the lower dash and centre console are black in my car, and the beige is actually slightly darker in the flesh than it looks in those pictures (well, judging by my laptop screen anyway).

Hi Pete, dont mind the beige seats if everything else was black/grey like yours, its the "make everything we can beige" technique I don't really like! All down to personal taste though, I guess perhaps its a bit more "girlie" with the beige doors etc so maybe not a bad thing in this case.

Hi Roger

I've got a 135i Cab. I tested both the coupe and cab and the difference between the two was minimal, The hood is top notch with very little wind noise and no leaks even when I clean it with a high pressure washer. There is very little scuttle shake and the car feels tight. The only thing I have noticed is when transversing steep driveways at an angle is some creaking from the dash (I assume due to lack of rigidty from lack of roof)

I test drove a 125i and the engine is sweet and smooth

(hope this helps, sorry for poor spelling just got in from pub)

But then for a car the same age, the Boxster S isn't in the same ballpark price wise, so hardly a fair comparison. At a guess, I suspect for £20k you're looking at a 3 year old Boxster S which would presumably be out of warranty? You've then got servicing costs, which I doubt are comparable?

bks, the 1er cab is a great car, depending on what you want.
But if you can live with two seats the 987 (S or otherwise) is a much better car...

As i said, if you need four seats.

If not then i guess it's a driving thing, my 65 year old Mum would probably prefer a 125i cab to a Boxster (although in reality she'd be more likely to buy a 135i cab or 335i cab).

I'm sure for the money I could get a terrace house somewhere up north as well, but the question related to a 125 cab and not a Boxster S.

Anyway, to those who responded with relevant answers, thanks!thumbup

It is when my girlfriend was looking for a 1 series cab, if I asked what's the best car for x amount of money then fair enough.

Better is also subject to opinion!
