On the market for a gallardo.
Always been into corvette and this is the first time I'm looking to buy a Lambo.

What do I need to check???
how about clutch, service, mileage???
Is it expensive to run, how often and how much it need to be serviced????

All advice are welcome...

...probably the easiest thing to do from the start is read as many posts re. Gallardos here on the PistonHeads F, M, L & B forum!

From any buying p-o-v, you need one particular element and you can provide lots of that for yourself, as often as you want or need to...

Take your time - unlike any other Lamborghini, there are plenty of Gallardos to choose from. As an example, the total amount of all the other Lamborghinis for sale in the PH classifieds at the moment is many cars less than the number of Gallardos for sale - at this point: 72 v 37 ...

In time, you'll see that people will say hotly debate and insist that their favourite Gallardo is a..., that the insert name of colour is best..., that the insert specification options are best... and there will be the usual bleatings about clutch wear issues from some people in reference to the earlier cars (now very resolved) and the depreciation issue of course, for those who expect the cars to hold value in a way that no car can... (not that big an issue if you aren't buying new and hardly at all if you wish to keep the car longer than 10 days) and, always, the manual versus e-gear argument.

Servicing and maintenance should be competitive price-wise, as should parts and stuff like that. You may have to adjust your ideas about what 'competitive' means in some ways, you are buying a Lamborghini not a Daewoo. Again, read as much stuff as you can here on this forum and elsewhere. It's very possible to 'cheat' a bit, though it might end up being expensive for you if you do...

For what it's worth, if I were to be on the hunt for a Gallardo (the very thought...), then I'd want to buy a '06 spec. Spyder, black & black, manual, probably not Callisto but certainly black wheels, limited 'bling' bits of additional stuff but with a glass engine lid, proof the car hadn't been 'serviced' at certain places (no names, no pack drill) and that it had been fitted or had always had a sintered clutch.

And a new, fruitier-sounding exhaust if only for the tunnels, wherever they may be...

...and then I woke up, again. bh when that keeps happening...

so, take your time pal, it's not even Spring yet!!

That would be a long hunt!

... now see here matey!! irked

... anyone who knows me, knows the chances of me even beginning such a hunt are slim, if not actually less wide than a scalpel blade's cutting edge... so, if you don't mind, I can daydream hunt for whatever I want... cloud9

.... just trying to work out why you couldn't have the glass lid on a Spyder. confused but point taken!!

It's probably dumb-ass obvious why not but hey, silly

hehe sorry, couldn't resist.

The rear deck lifts to let the roof out, the glass cover is too heavy for the mechanism, IIRC.

roof folds into collecting black tray which covers 80% of the engine, so glass cover would show.....black trayburger

Y'SEE!!!! Didn't I always say that big fat, overweight slabby glass engine covers were a waste of time!!! ranting

I know, I didn't done what never didn't did I? ... between you and me, I'm gutted. My daydream très froid, Côte d'Azur voiture d'waft has now lost a certain amount of that "Jeany sez "KWAH!"... frown
