good builder daily rate ?
Discussion
anyone have a builder, one man team
what sort of daily rate does he charge.. or what do you think the going rate is
i've always used the same chap so have nothing to compare to. He can do structural so extensions and conservatories and charges the same amount if he is just painting a wall.
I'm mainly talking about decorating, refurbing, small bit of electrical and plumbing, fitting new kitchens and bathrooms etc..

£150 for a builder. £80 for his assistant. £50 for a labourer.
ETA: Plus VAT where applicable
You don't worry that for those sort of prices, they'd have no insurance? No one in there right mind is going to sub out a labourer for £50.ETA: Plus VAT where applicable

Think about it, you've got to get him there, give him some tools, buy all his PPE, insure him and, believe it or not, pay him. That can't be done for 50 quid I can assure you... Unless he's wearing clown shoes.
(The boss that is.)Obviously, ignoring all the above and going in and bodging, then its more than possible I'd have thought. But thats a choice I'd avoid I think.
