When I laid the car up in October 2008 the srater was perfect . I had to use it to get the car into the shed because the right front suspension was torn off at the last event of the season.Bit of a slope , backwards plus only 3 wheels so put it reverse then turned the key (plug leads off) . Now I've finished repairs , I wanted to start her up after filling the new radiator/engine -------------- turn the key ---- now't ??? , not even a click(dash lights & fuel pump wizzed but slowed once the key was turned) . Fully charged racing 680 amp battery , earths tight, terminals behind the ignition switch clean/tight ??
Spent hours looking for faults even though it was working fine when last used.
I want to run the starter motor as an item , ignoring the cars loom to see if it's a solenoid problem or the motor . What terminal posts (main red & small starter terminal)do I connect to the battery positive & negative . I presumed the outer casing of the starter motor gets it's negative via the engine/bellhousing bolting ?
Any advice appreciated .

negative to the starter body
positive to the main red
and the small wire receives positive to engage
simple as that
put your foot on the motor before hitting the small wire onto live as the starter will move around quite well
