Coping with cooling winter climate
Discussion
if we're now entering a cool period of a couple of decades (bugger all to do with V8s by the way), how the hell is this 'elf and safety obsessed, layabout workforce going to cope with the 'proper' winters you see on the newsreels from a few decades back?
we might as well stick a closed sign on the UK between december and march if it happens!

If it becomes a trend, we'll do what the northern Europeans do and just have a set of winter wheels/tyres each. No problem.
The level of driver incompetence over here would have to be overcome before it's no problem...I spent 2.5 hours on a 20 minute journey because these people got stuck on perfectly manageable roads.

it's a bit deeper than that though!school closures, public transport disruption (buses didn't even stop in london during WW2!), etc
One thing parents will have to accept is that kids will fall over in snowy playgrounds - this is not a reason to sue the school, it's part of being a kid and was great fun when I was at school.
schools close for many reasons,
1. potential of being sued due to injury
2. difficulty for staff getting in
3. potential heating problems
4. the "real" safety issues such as ice
5. some kids are f'in stupid and will throw iceballs at heads not snowballs
Also the current stuff is Weather, not Climate the current MMGW stuff is due to people assuming they are the same thing.

Surely those greenies that ran out and purchased Priuses should be taxed extra now. As far as I can tell, V8 related global warming has cost the economy absolutely nothing tangible, as everyone could still get to work.
The net result of a few hundred thousand Priuses replacing the V8 has obviously created an imbalance in global weather systems, which directly led to 5m people not being able to get to work last Monday & Tuesday.
According to the Federation of Small Businesses, this had a direct and tangible impact on the economy to the tune of £6b - this is excluding the additional expense of increased insurance claims, additional salt purchasing etc.
Surely, these irresponsible Prius drivers need to be taxed into the ground for having such an immediate and dramatic impact on the economy?
