Good Evening

I've been browsing these forums for a while and the knowledge shown is very impressive, thanks.

So now I've gone and done it, purchased a 1991 Blue S3, only done a few miles so far (picked up in lunch hour) and driven home in the snow Doh.. so not too much fun so far.

Nothing has fallen off yet, although the driver door handle is a little wobbly and the rear screen needs replacing.

Some of the suspension arms, steering rack and windscreen have all been replaced in the last 5 years and its also been waxoiled in that time so I hope I have a basically sound car, it needs a little paint and some work on the hood though.

One question did occur to me when getting in tonight at work. Does the S3 have any kind of interior light..? sorry dont laugh I'm new around here, been stuck driving an Auto Celica for the last 3 years. But before that owned a 360Bhp 2WD Saphire Cosworth (Ahmed Bayjoo spec conversion by Harvey Gibbs) T3/4 Turbo, Escort Cossie block, RS500 Head, RS500 Intercooler, Green injectors 24Psi etc..) so am really looking forward to doing the track day thing again..

I intend to fix the hood and any other little bits she needs, then roll bar, wheels, big brakes, new coilovers + bushes, oh and don't flame me I fancy a stripe too but in vinyl so I can remove if it looks bad. Also thinking about some BMW Mini door mirrors as mine has the silly flappy things on at the moment. Oh and the exhaust is blowing a little does anyone reccomend a good replacement, Magnex? Mongoose? Haywood & scott..?

Thanks Guys as you can see loads to do so I will probably set up camp here for a while.

Damian

Welcome to the S club.

You'll love it. They are great cars, lots of fun.

The interior light is normally mounted on the front of the rear hood section (in the hoop).

Exhausts... don't know if Magnex etc do them for this - most owners use specialist TVR suppliers like ACT, Peninsula etc.

Welcome! Yes they do that a rear light (mine does anyway), on the 'roll hoop' that folds down when you take the roof panels out.

Let us see your car when you have a chance!

Welcome Damian you'll just have to get used to that....

The interior light is in the roll hoop of the hood. Quite normal for them to rot from the inside. Its the same unit as fitted to a Landrover Disco.

Hi Damian, welcome to the forum and to 'S' ownership.

Quite new to it myself, only been an owner for 6 months with a blue S3c.

You'll find everyone on here to be knowlegable, friendly or helpful. (some are even all three smile).

Bum gonna need to do some chassis work.. I knew she needed some but not as much as the propper inspection identified.

Oh well gonna bite the bullet and have it done, shiney bits may have to wait a while though...

Even with this work she should still be a pretty cheep car...

Welcome. Be warned, they're addictive, especially once you start doing work.
