Does anyone use a sat nav here? I know the cons, roads changing on a regular basis, new routes being opened up etc but would still like to go for one as I have guests arriving every other week and think it would be a stress free way to locating landmarks in all the other Emirates. Will be popping into Sharaf or Yellow Hat to look at some of the offerings which they have over the weekend but in the meantime, would be happy to consider any recommendations any of you may have !

Thanks!

I've had BMW satnavs for a couple of years and they drive me mad. Utterly useless, partly because the user interface is frustratingly poor, but also partly because there just isn't enough data in there to make it worthwhile.

I've no idea how good the handheld (TomTom style) devices are out here, but if the integrated system is anything to go by, probably more trouble than they're worth.

Nowadays I print out a map from google and memorise the route I need to take.

I have it in the Pathfinder and it's fine if you're fine and in the middle of nowhere and need to get back to a programmed place (home or the office) but unless you have the exact street name and number then it's pretty pointless. I use the map as a guide but nothing more.

And yes, the car is 3 months old and the map is already way out of date.
