Just had CW's latest catalogue delivered, with a letter that said that prices would be going up as of March '09. No details as to how much, but I thought it worth a heads up!!!

I want a shedload of his watches!!!

Quite a few posts here if you search back. Others had good experiences, mine was questionable (lack of QC) - but hopefully they've sorted that by now.

Nice watch though, if it weren't for the scratches and misaligned hands! wink

I've got a C8 Pilot (white face) and I like it a lot. Quality is first-rate, and it keeps reasonable (if not chronometer) time.

+1, although mine is black faced. Cannot fault the watch or the service...

+30%! According to the e-mail I just rec'd. If you were considering a purchase, buy before 2nd March to avoid the increase.

If it is your first purchase ask for the 10% discount - I think it only works when you call them to order. smile

30 FRIGGIN PERCENT???!!! :|

That's taking the mick a bit surely, I mean I know things are tight for most people but jeez!

Looks like I shall end up having to put it on the card in march or postpone the purchase indefinately frown I don't want to have to do that but there's no way I'm going to pay £240 for a watch that was only £185 a matter of a single calendar month prior.

Might just buy an Black or Orange Monster instead...

....and how has it been? I imagine that it's keeping good time as it's quartz, is it comfortable? Perceived quality....?

I have a C5 Malvern Automatic, very nice watch /good build for the money.

Had the watch for about a year or so now.

Price hike is due to the 'Swiss made' badge now,I would guess.

It's been great. Keeps good time, as you'd expect and the quality is outstanding. As I said on the original thread, it's slightly big for my wrist, but perfectly comfortable.

Wow.. I'd never heard of them before but they look shockingly good value for the money.

In celebration of this fact and in a 'two fingers up to the le crunch de crédit' I've just ordered a Special Edition C4 RCAF. biggrin

I shall take some pics when it arrives thumbup

Friend of mine has one. Nice watch for the money (they have auto movement versions too).

From looking at his only I'd go for one with a leather strap.

I wonder if the price hike is linked to the Euro xrate movement? Even at that money they look good value to me, though worth looking around at other options I guess...

Partly. Here's the e-mail from them:

If there’s an easy way to tell you we are increasing many of our prices by around 30%* from Monday 2nd March I don’t know it - so rather than hide behind the sofa and hope you don’t notice (fat chance, eh?) I thought it would be better to at least advise you beforehand so you, our most valued supporters, have at least an opportunity to take advantage of the current prices should you be considering a purchase in the near future.

Why the increases?

Put simply, significant movement and component price increases, together with the change in the sterling exchange rate against all major currencies has contrived to hole our margins below the water line requiring us, unfortunately, to raise our prices at this time.

Is there any good news?

YES!
You have until midnight on March 2nd to buy at the current prices (Saving Up To 30% on the post March 2nd Prices) and, even after this date, Christopher Ward watches will still be the most
affordable luxury watches in the world - by a country mile!

And finally...

...because we have a simple and consistent approach to margins:
COST PRICE + A SMALL MULTIPLE
(apart from diamond watches where the multiple is even smaller) when the cost prices
come down, so will our prices, and that’s a promise!
