Erm... It has no effect on bhp... Power to weight, yes, but not hp.

That's a classic "how long is a piece of string" question !!

What's the weight of the car to begin with ?

How much power and torque does the engine produce ?

Etc., etc., etc.

Removing weight will help the performance of the car in a straight line, but it can also affect (positively or negatively) the dynamics of the car and how it handles so it may not be a consistent improvement.

Obviously it has no physical power improvement. That's why i said equivalent.

Say two civic type r's. One weighs 100kgs less and one has 10bhp more. In a straight line they should be roughly the same? I know weight has a lot more improvements on corners and braking though.

Well we'd have to know the vehicle in question, and it's weight before, and after...
