TVR in Spain

Having blasted my Tuscan up and down the coast for a few months I am seriously considering setting up a dealership in Spain. The attention that has been drawn to the car is incredible and I know a number of people already who would commit to purchases.

Setting up a dealership would require a great deal of investment in cash, time and effort. I have asked the question to TVR to gauge their reaction/interest.

Are there any dealers or people involved in dealerships who could let me in on any comments about relationships with the factory and dealer support. You may e-mail me through my profile if you don't want you comments made public. My intention is to gather as much information as possible before making a decision.

Sales and marketing I have covered, however, if anyone who is involved in servicing & maintenance, would be interested in joint venture contact me.

Any other opinions would also be welcome.

Dear Philip,

I wondered if you had got anywhere with your investigations into TVR dealerships? The same idea had occurred to me, though saddly I am not a TVR owner yet... I am a mechanical engineer with 10 years background in the auto industry. I live in Madrid and would like to know if you would be interested in some sort of Madrid/Malaga/Marbella dealership JV.

I have some (limited) contacts in INTA which is the goverment body responsible for "type" homologations which has to be the first major hurdle to be crossed before being able to sell vehicles in Spain. Perhaps some strings could be pulled here!! I also have a contact who could perhaps be trained up as a TVR maintenance expert in Madrid, he currently has a garage in Alcobendas.

I suspect that now could be a good time to set up in Spain, though I don't know how supportive TVR could be as they don't appear too interested in selling outside the UK.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Hi there, I live in Marbella and have a Tamora, which is a pain because I spend my life driving it back to UK for servicing. I also thought that a TVR dealership would go down a storm out here and made some initial enquiries to Peter Wheeler in Blackpool.

Is this something you are still considering because from a financial point of view a partnership is definitely worth exploring... Do you live out here too? You can email me on: [e-mail] and perhaps we could arrange a meeting.

Sorry to hijack the thread but any of you TVR owners in Spain want to join us in the trip up to Le Mans this year?
