It's very hard to recognise the blocks spec from a distance so they all look very much like an ls1 to 'outsiders'. I wouldn't expect a journalist to know what he was looking at. Blocks usually have a part number cast into the block just underneath the rear of the n/s head, above the bell housing. They also have 7.0 cast into the front of the block below the water pump on the drivers side. In other words right where you can't see them.
