Anything like a bike? That'd be cool.
Still not sure whether to leave my Exige alone, soup up the Toyota engine or plan for a silly transplant in a couple of years time. Love the car, want to go faster - the standard S feels like it's being 'held back' a bit and has to work hard for its performance...

buy an early S2 Elise thats ready done is the cheap option - Honda conversions now are up to 2.3L SC and intercooled - 400bhp if you want it
yes its like a 4 wheel motorbike and will do a ton in 8 secs
no point in converting a Toyota engined one - too much hassle IMO
I used to love my old SC Honda Elise and will have another one day

£10k is the all in price from a recognised specialist which a lot of people would recommend. But it can be done more cost effectively if you are prepared to put some work in (either the internet variety or the spannering). I am having an S2 Elise "Honda'd" at the moment and the all in price (including the base vehicle) including various other upgrades such as uprated brakes, Nitrons, exige type seats and wheels, refurbed wishbones, bigger roll cage etc etc is £21k. ATF Power (google them) specialise in building race cars, have 3 elise projects on the go and sourced me a 6k miles car (w/ docs to support) and a 2500miles 2007 K20 type R engine. The K series engine has already gone for £600 + vat just to give you an idea...most bits taken off can be resold
Rather baffled as to this: People are SCing the type R engine.
If you are going to supercharge a car, why bother with the high revvy unit when the same block and manufacturer can give the stroked 2.4 litres?
SC can work at 6500 or 8000, its just a wheel change.
For max power, lower parasitics and reliability much better to be 2.4 at 6500 than 2.0 at 8000. If you are looking for power there is no replacement for displacement, as the septics love to tell us.

That rather depends on how you look at it...If you are going to supercharge a car, why bother with the high revvy unit when the same block and manufacturer can give the stroked 2.4 litres?

the K24 is a long stroke engine, you just can't rev them like the K20, now, yes they make more torque, but at the cost of revs, and IMHO it's not a worthwhile trade-off.
the 2,257 ones whist having an increased stroke (from 86 to 90.1) can still be reved, so are the best option for more capacity without compromise.
to put some numbers to this, K24 I would not suggest running over ~6,800, whereas the 2,257 can still do 8,800+ (depends on valvetrain etc).

I miss my old Honda'd S2. Awesomely quick, even in NA tune. I'll be back...
You only had it 5 minutes before you sold it! Then a hot S1 that lasted even less time, one suspects you are easily bored.I had the Honda'd car for about 18 months actually, and sold it because I was regularly spending a lot of money keeping it going. Suffice to say I spent the equivalent of a deposit for a 1-bed flat on it during that time.
The nice S1 I had got sold due to lack of use, and got transformed into an engagement ring and half a honeymoon. I could've kept it, but didn't see the point of walking past it each day thinking "I wish I could spend more time with that"... given that I had that and the other half has a 350Z roadster, it became a bit superfluous.
In terms of boredom, you suspect quite wrong about cars. I do however realise that one has a limited amount of time on this planet, and a limited amount of available funds, so unless either of those situations changes then I shall try to experience as many cars as possible. There's more to life than Elises.
