Ironing a shirt

Oh the shame of having to ask this question bearing in mind I am female but I'm not into ironing, ever. Had to retrieve the ironing board from the loft where it had spent the last 10 years as it is.

Last night I had the need to iron a man's shirt for a rather fussy man. I failed big time. How the fvck do you iron a shirt without ceasing as you go the bits you have already done. It there a set place you start and end of the shirt so it comes out crisp and smooth.

Shoulder piece
back of sleeves
front of sleeves
front right panel, iron and move the rest of the garment away from your body

alternatively get the fker to do it himself

However, just need to keep on moving it around the ironing board. Use the end of it and tuck the shirt around it so it stays in one place.

Pretty simple. Even I can do it. And my ancestors were sent to this fair land for stealing bread so I don't exactly come from high end stock.

I always start with the collar & yoke, then do the cuffs, then the sleeves and finally the body, starting with the buttonholes and working round to finish at the buttons. Seems to work.

He would not be seen dead in a shirt from M&S, let alone a non-iron variety.

Bit I was having trouble with is I do the sleeves and then the front or back and the sleeves would then hang down on the floor and crease. So I would iron them again and the front or back panels crease. After 30 minutes I was getting annoyed shall we say.

He would not be seen dead in a shirt from M&S, let alone a non-iron variety.

If he wouldn't be seen dead in a shirt from M&S then you should advise him to get his butler to do his bloody ironing.

I can indeed cook, just not iron shirts it seems. But I shall decline your very kind offer of help

The order of ironing the various 'parts' is based on ironing those which will crease least as you finish the rest of the garment first, together with ironing those parts which matter most - the two front panels - last.
