Just a stream as you effectively watching it via safari, much as if you watch youtube clips its doesn't store them.
The ability to save programmes on the iphone would be good for long trips etc.
If they work out a way to install a limited time download option same as the computer version of iPlayer then it would be very handy! The ability to save programmes on the iphone would be good for long trips etc.

I cant believe what S***e my wife Nokia 96 is she complains all the time about the slowness of this phone is a huge annoyance especially when she are wanting to get a message out fast. Also another of the major annoyances is that every week or so the phone loses its capability to ring and the factory settings need to be reset to fix the problem……
Overall this phone is a complete rip off.
And not only that I think it looks like a brick.

where is it? i cant find it on app store!
It's not on the App Store - go to the iPlayer website in Safari. It's not just the web version of iPlayer though, since the video format wouldn't work; it's BBC offering a specially encoded version specifically for the iPhone/Touch (and other devices which can use the stream).
BTW, you can save Youtube videos with MXTube on a jailbroken iPhone, so I guess it would be reasonably easy for someone to do the same for iPlayer.
