The Earth is flat don't you know!

Very serious stuff this:

I'd like a pint of whatever they've been drinking.
Well maybe a half.
Actually I'll have a pint as they're probably lightweights.

1) Staying on top
Once again, picture in your mind a round world. Now imagine that there are two people on this world, one at each pole. For the person at the top of the world, (the North Pole), gravity is pulling him down, towards the South Pole. But for the person at the South Pole, shouldn't gravity pull him down as well? What keeps our person at the South Pole from falling completely off the face of the "globe"?

Exactly my thinking!Once again, picture in your mind a round world. Now imagine that there are two people on this world, one at each pole. If it is true that the world is indeed round, then why has all the blood not gone to the guy on the South Poles head??

That has to be the best disclaimer on any website ever:
The Flat Earth Society is not in any way responsible for the failure of the French to repel the Germans at the Maginot Line during WWII. Nor is the Flat Earth Society responsible for the recent yeti sightings outside the Vatican, or for the unfortunate enslavement of the Nabisco Inc. factory employees by a rogue hamster insurrectionist group. Furthermore, we are not responsible for the loss of one or more of the following, which may possibly occur as the result of exposing one's self to the dogmatic and dangerously subversive statements made within: life, limb, vision, Francois Mitterand, hearing, taste, smell, touch, thumb, Aunt Mildred, citizenship, spleen, bedrock, cloves, I Love Lucy reruns, toaster, pine derby racer, toy duck, antelope, horseradish, prosthetic ankle, double-cheeseburger, tin foil, limestone, watermelon-scented air freshner, sanity, paprika, German to Pig Latin dictionary, dish towel, pet Chihuahua, pogo stick, Golf Digest subscription, floor tile, upper torso or halibut.

If these people were to be believed then the molten core would be like a pound coin instead of a ball.
You see Phil, this is anther common mistake. The world is not round either.

It's triangular.
How else can you explain the Bermuda "Triangle" ?
Ships sail into it and then fall off the edge of the world.
Think outside the triangle, man. Outside...

There are a lot of them that actually do believe it's flat. A lot of whacky ideas to back it up. This came up a few months ago and some people joined their forum. "I know the earth is flat. I can look outside and see it's flat" - seriously.
There are also a lot of people there who are very lonely and want to be part of a group because they've been excluded from everywhere else, who can offer nothing in the way of intelligent debate on the subject. Sad f

That's the thing though, I don't believe that they really believe it. They are just attention seekers or people who want to belong to something. There are also a lot of people there who are very lonely and want to be part of a group because they've been excluded from everywhere else, who can offer nothing in the way of intelligent debate on the subject. Could be, those that I spoke with seemed sincere enough - although I did get the idea that it's one huge practical joke on everyone else.cottonfoo said:
