Which Speedmaster is this?
Discussion
I've never been a great fan of the Omega Speedmaster range. Although they have a massive following, I've tended to prefer the Rolex sport models.
However....
This morning I saw two stunning examples in a window display. I've tried looking on the net but can't seem to find any pictures of the models I came across. The first one had a white dial, and had a look very similar to the Paul Newman Rolex Daytonas. The white dial was complemented with dark blue/black inner dials (??technical term) and came with a steel strap.
The second one was similar but I recall it having white dials with fatter hands with the inscription '1957' on the dial.
Anyone seen these before? maybe a few of you own one? They looked stunning and have certainly got me interested in this brand.

Did the first one have a black or chrome outer tachymetre bezel? If so then it sounds like the Speedmaster legend. It is similar to the Daytona in that it had a white inner dial surrounded by a darker border, with black sub dials.
The second one sounds like one of the 1957 limited editions. Did it have white sub dials?
To be honest Omega seem to find a good excuse to release 2-3 "special editions" of this watch every year. I've not found one that I like as much as the original, even if I did end up compromising slightly and buying the sapphire crystal version.

I don't think the sapphire crystal version is a compromise! Okay so it's not officially NASA approved, but the movement looks fantastic, (it's a travesty to hide it!), and in day-to-day use the crystal is a more practical option.I appreciate the benefits of Hessalite in a zero gravity environment, but in the unlikely event that I could ever afford to go into space, I'm sure I could stretch to a hessalite version to take with me too!!
When I get a speedy pro, I'll be getting one like yours!

They both had a chrome outer tachymetre bezel. The second one had white sub dials and looked stunning, However the first one just stood out from the rest of the speedmaster range. The second one sounds like one of the 1957 limited editions. Did it have white sub dials?

Have you seen any pics of these on the net? How rare are the speedmaster limited editions? The 1957 one I saw did look impressive with the bigger hands which gave it a 'classic' look.
Have to do some more searching to see if I can find some pics.
Any of these?:

I can't quite put my finger on it, but it looked like the last one but with a steel outer rim instead of the black. The second one hadsimilar hands to the second picture but was not blue. I'm fairly sure these are 'current models' ..let me check the omega website...back in a minute.

Aha.... I think the first one I saw today is the same as the first one of these pictures. However can't see it on the curent omega website. The second one I am fairly sure is from the 'broad arrow range' but was not in blue....can't see this one on the website either. How rare are these models...when they sat 'limited edition' how limited are they.
