Do you volunteer or do charity work?

Maybe its just the area I live in but there's lots of volunteer & charity stuff going on about me all the time. Compared to my neighbours my meagre contribution is volunteering at the local animal shelter, the odd laboring day for Habitat for Humanity and once a month at a spay n neuter clinic. Which is really not a lot given I'm in immigration limbo at the moment with nothing to do...

So PH'ers who believes in charity and volunteering on regular basis?

I do, in several ways and not all easy
I wish they would have a cake eating day... but no it's always a run up this moutain day.

I spend every weekend doing several hours of charity work. But i wouldn't bother if they didn't pay me for it.

Dedicate half a day a week to a cancer charity helping patients themselves. Highly recommend doing voluntary work to anyone.

I volunteer to help clear my local (disused) canal.

Sadly at the moment no.

I used to do a bit of fundraising, but that was mainly running in the little races etc.. and getting sponsored for it.

Ive done work for CRISIS and Victim Support in the past. Working for the homeless was probably the most rewarding. A great experience.

When I'm not razing virgin forest to put up a new housing estate I'm a pro muso. I quite often give my services to charity benefits and the like, waving my usual fee for performing.

Nope. I usually try and get paid if it is anything that is going to take up a significant amount of time/something I don't like doing.

If it was something I enjoyed then I do it for free, obviously. Helping people fix cars some cars etc.

If I am out of a contract this summer I plan to call the War Graves Commission and see if they want any labouring or garden type work doing anywhere in the WW1 graveyards the Somme.

I used to live there so this would give me the opportunity to go visit friends and stuff at night but yet do something useful that is very important to me now. I've no isea if they require voluntary work of this nature but I intend to enquire anyway.

Hmmn. I haven't played in nearly ten years and although I really miss the game I don't think I could handle playing it again. Coaching quite appeals to me though, I might have to see if I can get into that.

I am a volunteer director for these guys.Have been for 6 years now. If i can save families going through what we did as a family, when our son wasn't getting an appropriate education for his Autism. Then every hour of my voluntary time will have been worthwhile.
