Not even jobs worths - my horrible day!

A nice day of, no work, no uni, three jobs to do.

1. Get new headlight bulb installed.
2. Find out what is wrong with the road angel, I know it is probably a cable thus will have to buy one.
3. Buy the books for this trimesters modules.


My usual garage, which replaced the other headlight lightbulb a few months ago, is open till five, doen't have a half day on a friday and the last time told me to bring it at the end of the day at about half four becuase that is when jobs are finished and they can get someone onto it right away.

The main law bookshop. Open until 8 pm. Can park for free before half past six.

The road angel. Need to find another cable that attaches to it to see that it is the cable that is faulty. Need to go and buy one from Halfords.

Couldn't be simpler......

Arrive at the garage at about half four. Was told the guys don't have a half day but do finish an hour early. They can fix it tomorrow but im working so that is a no no.

Try a ford main dealer. Shuts at five, I know this as I've used them before. Roadworks. Don't get there till about five to five. All gone home.

Went to Halfords. Guy says yeah I can test it with the display item's cable. Oh my older version of the Road Angel uses a different type of cable. The newer version of cables is all that is in stock.
I enquired about my light. He agrees to fix it if he can right away. We go out, he can't fix it on a Mk 2 focus due to the headlight requiring removal or a bulkhead reaquiring removal.

Try a small branch of Farmer Autocare. Direct me to an MOT branch who can fix it, only 800 yards away.

Arrive at MOT branch at ten past six. Observed the opening times as finishing at six thirty. I walk up and say I'd like a headlight bulb replaced please. He says "were closed" but you can come back tomorrow. I ask him if the job will take long as I could pop in if im not busy during the day. He says fifteen minutes. Dazzled by this I walked away.

I went home for tea which was being prepared for me. I got my stuff organised as I was going to do some work at uni (not classwork but just the usual applications for placements ect, not really work but just stuff)

In the past two nights the bookstore which closes at 8 was closed and locked up at four minutes to one night and three minutes to the other. I got in just before five to and the shop was open. I went upstairs to the law section to find the lights were being put off. Then a numpty said were closed. I said it is five to, I want to pick up over £120 of stuff. Again he said "were closed".

Jobsworths or what.

I ask any of you. If you had a customer come in to buy over £120 worth of stuff a few minutes before closing time would you turn them away?

If you could do a job between now and closing time would you say you were closed and then admit that you could do the job before closing time?

I was doing other stuff before four. As I said the last time I went to the garage I normally use they told me to come late on as there is usually someone free to just do it.

If I went before four then the chances are that I wouldn't be able to park and if I could I would have had to pay. The store's opening times are posited as open till 8 so why waste money?

And for changing the bulb myself well:

1. Father has no tools. I mean actually none.
2. I haven't got a freeking clue how to do that.

1) Thats good, as you dont need any
2) Release clip, pull bulb, push new one, put clip back.

Glad i could save you some cash, as a poor student etc.

I am curious why the OP was staking the bookshop out for two days to establish it's exact closing time before going in on the third night with one minute to spare?.
