OMP or Alpinestars boots?

Finally getting round to ordering some kart boots (I was going to ages ago and asked for help on another thread but have had lots of crap to sort out the last few months!). It's a toss up between:
Alpinestarts Tech 1-K:

I prefer the style of the Alpinestars but the price of the OMP's. Anyone had any experience of either?

I have the even cheaper OMPs.

They do the job without looking too flash, which is nice

I have the more expensive Alpinestars.

They do the job while looking flash, which is nice too. Everyone will have different opinions on what is better so i'd say just go with what you'd prefer.

there was a topic on here recently, and flemke and a few others mentioned speedwell being very good.

there is a huge choice though, demontweeks has loads as do GPR.

Surely buying them on style is the wrong place to start? Buy on comfort and fit, same as skid lids. Pretty boots aren't automatically faster boots.

I agree you should buy on comfort and fit - if they didn't take so long to lace up and I didn't look like a t*t walking round Tesco in them I'd wear my OMP boots to drive almost everywhere. But they do, and I would, so I don't....

Got the omp boots myself and find them very comfortable needed them for the westfield which has a tiny area round the pedal box. In black so don't look to bad when walking round at a meet. Think i got them from Merlin motor sport.

I ordered some Alpinestars boots to match my suit. Unlike the suit, which is a perfect fit, the boots were too long and narrow for me so they had to go back. It's worth trying a few on, unless you don't mind a cycle of ordering and then sending things back

Hmm I'm size 10, if I order the Alpinestars ones should I order a size up?
Lots of praise for the OMP's, I would be wearing them while driving as well, as Seicento pedals are so tiny , so would get them in black to look subtle, or say bks to it and get the bright red ones? I already have red trainers which I wear a lot, they're just a tiny bit too big for the pedals of my car, and I wouldn't want to ruin them going karting.

BTW I will probably be ordering on Monday,

No, I'd stick with your present size. I have quite wide feet, and I found the Alpinestars were just thin and long, even though I'm sure the overall sizing was accurate to my size. Momo and Puma fit me well - I guess it's like anything, it depends what shape you are (e.g. I have an Arai head, not a Bell head).

Right then I will probably order them, thinking of getting them in white originally, but also like the red ones but then again the white shoes would go with my other racing gear better. I just wish they were a little cheaper as I can't get the VAT back so they're £85 shipped out to me. The OMP's are around £60 which is a bit better, so I'll be thinking about it before I put the order in!

I would but ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££ (they're £130!)

They're even more expensive than the Alpinestars ones which are top of my budget really. I'm only after some kart boots, and the Foroza's seem to be full on race boots. Don't get me wrong they're extremely nice, just out of my price range. £80 is really the maximum I have.

Cheers, I was about to order the Alpinestars on the basis that they are quite narrow. Are the OMP's narrow? I need them to be for road car driving as well (if you have seen the pedals on a Fiat Seicento you will understand why!)

Racing boots by design are close fitting. I looked at the Alpinestars myself but heard they were a bit bigger and are more expensive. OMP were good enough for Ferrari back in the Schumacher days as well.
