dead battery or ??

Hi I'm after some advice\help please

Just went out to the car (T350) and tried to open the doors - no response(no flashing indicators etc) when I press the button on the key? I assumed dead battery so gained entry via alternative methods and put the battery on charge. However the charger has a 'Compensating' light which normally illuminates when charging but now no light at all - the current voltage indicator also not lit. I put the car on charge a few weeks ago and all seemed fine though I didn't start the car.

Am I correct in diagnosing a dead battery or is it something else do you think?

Any ideas\suggestions would be v.much appreciated, was hoping to go to Wales for a few days in the car tomorrow but looks like I might be scuppered.

When you say put the battery on charge do you mean you took it out and connected to an external charger or via an accumate?
IIRC an accumate will not charge a fully flat battery. I had a similar problem in my old Chim (cold killed the battery off) and even when taken out and charged up properly it would drop it again within a day or so. Sounds to me like new battery time.

Yes via accumate - I think you're right - maybe the v.cold weather over the last few weeks have killed it good and proper.
