A Gathering - Whats the difference ?

Hello PH,

Sorry to be a pain, but would you explain the difference between the email I sent this morning, concerning the open day I have arranged at in Shoreham, and the following postings that are on Page 1 of the Events / Meets / Travel forums.

Chateau Run 09 ... with chateau link.
Ace Cafe meets ... with full address details.
JAPT Brands Hatch meeting ... with full address details.
BHP Performance Show 2009 at Lyden Hill ... with BHP link.
Lamborghini Summer Picnic ... with link to Hever Castle.
Santa Pod RWYB ... with link.

Please appreceiate that I'm not trying to be difficult, I cannot understand the difference between the gathering I have arranged and the above events others have arranged with advertised links and / or addresses for named organisations.

Your email informing me my post of this morning had been removed has the link directing me to the classified car dealers section, however, the company concerned are not car dealers because they do not sell cars.

I trust you can understand my confusion when others can name a chateau, a cafe, a race cicuit, a castle, a drag strip, but I cannot name a company that removes car bodywork dents and are offering a great saving to fellow PH'ers.

Perhaps asking for permission to post that type of thread to see if it was in breach of the rules of posting, prior to posting may have been a step in the right direction.

From what I can see and without going through all the other threads you've quoted, yours looked very much like an advert from a new member.

As I understand it, it's for commercial gain.

The other threads referred to above are just meets arranged by PHers - with no commercial interest from anyone.

I never imagining it being a problem and accordingly saw no need to ask for any permmision based on other PH events that have been arranged.

I have been a PH'er for over three years and therefore I do not understand your `new member' comment, nor the relevence of my length of time being a PH'er with regard to this matter.

I am just a TIPEC club member who has arranged this event for the last three years, and thought it would be helpfull in the current economic climate to offer a fantastic dent removal deal to fellow PH'ers with absolutley NO reward to myself.

Yes, a commercial interest is involved, but as I view it, no more so than Chateau De Cocove, Brands Hatch, BHP / Lyden Hill, Ace Cafe, Hever Castle, or Santa Pod.

I failed to see any difference, and if there is problem then I would be grateful if someone would explain it to me.

Just trying to help fellow PistonHeads, thats all.

Terry - there is a MASSIVE difference between what you're promoting, and any normal PH meet.

It might be acceptable on other forums - but it's not on PH - simple as that.

I will say again, the events that you refer to as comparable, are quite simply not. These are allowed, and will continue to remain so.

I would suggest that if you are not happy about being allowed to promote a commercial/for profit event, then please take it up with HM directly.

Sorry for my misunderstanding and terming you as a newbie, I was only really focused on the number of posts you have made. When you made your first post that it was deleted, your second post seemed to have met the same fate for the same reason.

Who are HM? Whist you may have been a member for 41 months it doesn’t appear from that question that you spend much time on here.

HM as skeggy say’s are otherwise known as Haymarket they have owned the site for the last TWO YEARS!

As I said, I will ask Haymarket to review your post, if it is considered that the post it is not for commercial gain it will be reinstated. But I wouldn’t hold your breath.
