Pinking - Detonation - one for the fish

I for the first time a long time was able to do some WOT Driving yesterday, however during some nice foot the floor gear changes from 1st to 2nd and 3rd I noticed, what to me sounded like a little bit of pinking.
I have a 56 plate 6.0 VXR with rip shifter, performance pac and wotec CAI, valved exhaust in loud mode and running shell optimax.
I haven't had pinking during normal driving since getting it from Monk back in Nov'ish time, however to me it was very noticeable yesterday. I wonder if it was a combination of cold intake temps and poor fuel (but it was optimax).
Monkfish may be able to give me some advice here....
I'm going to be moving my working contract from Harrogate to Hook near Basingstoke so I could always call in one weekend ...... give you a listen?

I'm quite the worrier and I always tend to lean towards being careful rather than being risky.
Installing 400cc injectors in my little glanza turbo just in case when upping the boost to 1.5bar with the new turbo even comes close to running lean.

easy thng to check is the plugs - if they are overheating then you should be able to see as this can cause pre-ignition.
I still have the plugs I removed from mine which I did after a strip session last year. Noticed pinking type noise but logs showed no adverse knock or leaning. After getting plugs out and adjusted the issue had gone. Changing the plugs is not a particularly pleasant job on the v8
