Great

Now we can get on to actual bad drivers and insurance dodgers rather than mobile cash machines

Good news.

Also, through the ANPR system we can dish out tickets for the princely sum of £200 and 6 points for No Ins..........

Soon all of PC Plod could have an ANPR type system, even foot patrols.

Staffordshire police are currently trialling a system using an Ipaq PDA type device linked to the mobile phone network. Juster enter vehicle registration number or name of person stopped by police, and get all details back from PNC.

I know that during the planning stage of the new big shopping complex they've built near us, they were going to fir anpr cameras to cover the car park entrance and exit. It was to be linked directly to police.

Don't know they they actually did it though.
be nice to think so.

i dont think essex plod have yet.....or they would have had the un-taxed w-reg micra that was blocking my garage.

(was.....because when i couldnt get the 'tina in the garage, the bull bars came out and hey presto, micra left in the center of the london road with a cracked front bumper!)

......and what happened to you turning up at the ace cafe?......there were plenty of other plod there after the clampers for carpetright started sh*tting it when a load of the ace's spectators surrounded them!

Tonyrec I am confused......

Are there 2 of you? Perhaps a twin brother?

One seems to post on here as tonyrec and the other as TonyRec!

I thought perhaps one was trying to impersonate a bib?!

Does ANPR distinguish between spacing i.e

XYZ 02 123

XY Z021 23

Obviously it doesn't like "altered" letters or numbers but im curious if your more likely to get a pull for illegal spacing

Cheers

ANPR will have problems with number plates that have incorrect spacing. It may well read them incorrectly. this in turn may set off an alarm as the ANPR computer may misinterpret your number plate as another one which may have a report on it and hence you may get stopped.
ANPR has several different `fonts` to enable it to read `fancy` style number plates...but to cut a long story short you may increase your chances of being stopped for number plates that don`t conform..
