You know you are getting old when....

Happened to me yesterday....
You go to a party and the topic of conversaton the next morning is how nice the food was.
You drive there, and expect to be able to drive back.
You don't ask who is going to be there before you say you will go.
You are back by 11pm, although you have no babysitter to worry about but have 'had enough'
You arrive at the party before 8pm to 'get a seat'
You don't put on clothes or shoes you can dance in, why would you?
You are glad the DJ plays music you can have a conversation over.
You expect and are delighted to be going home with the woman you went with.
You believe you went with the prettiest woman at the party, and left with her.
You buy the present and card well in advance to ensure it is right rather than from the garage on the way.
You chose your clothes based on what your partner is wearing so it won't make her look over/under dressed
You make plans for the next morning knowing you will be in a fit condition to do them.

Someone said on another thread....
"When you walk in doors and touch the radiators to make sure the boilers working OK"
Did make me laugh that one.

I realised I was ageing mentally if not physically old when, following the recent snowfall, I phoned my younger brother (he's 18, I'm 27) to advise him not to drive too fast in the snow and give him some general tips on winter motoring. His response...."thanks Dad".
Combined with my recent tendency to patrol the apartment before bed making sure all the windows are locked and the lights and appliances are switched off, I have decided to embrace maturity
Disappointingly, I also find myself doing that old-man-shaky-head-thingy when I see kids driving in ways that I disapprove of....
Time to go live in the retirement home me thinks!
