Funnily enough I took my mini for servicing etc at the sewards garage on grange road (it's near somerford and the sainsbury round about) they were pretty good, mainly because they had all the parts so you don't have to pay some guy to try one part and charge you for it, only to find that, that wasn't the problem. plus they picked up on some scarey tyre issues that the other garage I'd taken to had not (even though it was supposed to have had a FULL service! Anyway I digress, there's your answer, if you want your car fixed by someone you can have a go at if it still doesn't work then these are your people, if however you want some old boy who's been fixing cars since he was knee high to a baked bean then I suggest you head boscombe way and wish you luck!

I usually use S & H Motors on the Nuffield estate for most stuff. They're a very well priced, family run business. The customer service there is excellent. They can probably sort your alternator out.

I just need someone who knows minis inside out for my one at the mo....

Alternator from sewards = 72 quid
labour = 50 quid (there abouts, I also had a new silencer added to the rear exhaust and a gasket, which meant that the total came to 259.11)
This may seem like a lot of money but the garage down the road couldn't tell what the problem was and were going to charge me for every piece that they "suspected" was the problem and would keep trying different parts until they fixed the problem. This would have taken longer and probably been way more expensive in the long run.

Went passed P&S the other day and saw what appeared to be 7 guys pulling the scensored out of the car their working on for me!! A 1979 mini mayfair, I'm having the works done on it including a full respray, great price and I know she's going to look beautiful at the end! Yeah the guys out in Cranborne still seem to be good for parts, We're heading up there this week to find stuff to kit out said project!
