Ferrari F40 - Porsche Carrera GT
Discussion
One of these is a beast and the other a pussycat. The difference between 20 years of technology is rather noticeable.

I took the F40 out for a blast (as advised by my local Ferrari workshop
) and had forgotten just how basic it is to drive. No driver aids at all - ABS, Traction Control, Servo Assisted brakes, etc. What a buzz though. Nothing quite prepares you for the belt in the back when the turbos cut in, especially as mine seem to be over-boosting a bit at the moment (expensive head gasket job coming up no doubt). It certainly feels very, very 1980s - and I love it for that. This was when I started to drive in earnest and dreamed of owning one of these poster cars.
I then jumped into the CGT. It was amazing how civilised it all felt (it hasn't been out for some 3 to 4 months). The gearbox and clutch are the first things you notice - just how easy and slick they are compared to the brutes in the F40. It just feels so much 'lighter' in every respect, and so easy to drive at speeds that verge on the naughty. There isn't the turbo thump, more of an insatiable urge of torque that pushes you on and on, followed by lightening quick gearchanges.
I suppose the comparison may be akin to someone owning both an F40 and F50. Such similar cars but so far apart in reality. Which one do I prefer - both. They are both so wonderfully different that I get such a buzz out of choosing between 2 totally opposite machines. Many people asked me why I would have 2 cars so similar in design, ethos, dynamics, etc. But they are not - just 2 of the finest machines ever to be made and I consider myself as a very, very lucky custodian of them.

A few people asked to write this up but I am afraid I am no car reviewer. There is so much more I could say but it would ramble on for ages and I would not do the cars justice.
