Esprit V8 Slave Fail

Just thought I would share my experience with you;

I have a 98 Lotus Esprit v8. The clutch failed completely, after checking the reservoir and finding it empty. I diagnosed the problem to be the clutch slave cylinder, I could see clutch fluid leak out of the bottom of the bell housing for the clutch. This was bad news as if the fluid had contaminated the clutch that would be a £1500 bill. I changed the clutch slave cylinder and bleed the system. The price was £57. I test drove the car and the clutch is working great, no slippage or leaks. So I was lucky, but nobody else seems to of had this problem.

Yep. Same thing on my 98 V8-GT last year.

I think I will bleed mine and get all the dirt out of it so it lasts longer.
