Will it be the first of many? Do you have a budget you'd like to keep to?

I usually hire a jacket & sallopets from the local sport shop.

Cost me £30 all in the other week, simply because its a good standard of kit and takes quite a hammering too.

...depends how often you are planning on going I guess.

'Cos he's no pussy!

I'd say get yourself to TK Maxx. Managed to pick up some really top nitch gear for around £50 just before Christmas.

For your first time head down to TK Maxx. Avoid Snow and Rock. No point spending lots if you dont enjoy it.

First time I went ski-ing I just wore a Berghaus Goretex jacket (100quid) and some el cheapo Trespass(40quid) skiing trousers.
Now I rock a salomon jacket I bought in resort for 150 quid and by far the bargain of the century, a pair of 10k/10k Helly Hanson boarding trousers which I bought from TK Maxx for 50 quid.

You can spend incrementally increasing amounts of money. Either:

1) beg/steal/borrow kit from friends.
2) buy some cheapo columbia gear from TK Maxx.
3) go to blacks or similar with your credit card.

Have fun.

I think you'll find it's the ones that have sticks to help them down a hill that are pussies...

I like to think of them as stabilisers for the simple folk cool

As opposed to those that sit on their backsides at the top/middle/side of the slopes instead of actually getting down the hill in the first place tongue out

How many boarders does it take to change a lightbulb?
Three.
One to actually do it, another to film them changing said bulb and a final one to sit on their arse and say 'gnarly dude'.
Gotta love the broken wrist brigade!

Don't forget to wear your top hat at a rakish angle on the slopes.
