got quoted 15k for my kitchen and now they have come back with a compromise, direct from them i can get my kitchen fitted for 6k all in excluding corner sink and worktops.... is this a good deal, i want a £800 sink (will do myself and included in fitting) that they cant get and they quoted 3k for a granite laminate which they can fit.

Now this doesnt include plastering and moving the boiler, but all fitting.

the boiler needs moving 90 degrees to go on another wall and they seem to think that that should cost 3k, is that correct?

should the tiling get done after the kitchen is fitted?

They suggest i should do the following:

a) get everything removed
b) get it plastered by me ( a contractor)
c) let them do the rest
d) tile the floor
e) finished kitchen.

so can anyone assist and help cause i can get the plasting and boiler move done and get the kitchen done with a temp work top for 6k (fitted and kitchen only) and then get the worktop (3.9k for granite and 2.5k for granite effect) and wait for everything else.

Im in london if anyone can assist.

the sink is my idea for £800 and it saves else where as to get it welded in the corner is £300-400 and a corner sink is 400 so might as well spend the money on the corner sink and remove the need for welding and switch the money to the sink.... the 4k for granite worktop is a different matter

They are on thier arse, having hardly any work on (as most kitchen companies).

No doubt they will be taking the p!ss, however need to know more info to be able to let you know how much it should be costing, ie size of kitchen, appliances being included and spec of cupboards/worktop.

To give you an idea, we were looking at 5 no. kitchens and went to thier showroom at manchester. The kitchen's were quoted 3k each including fitting, oven/hob & extractor. Joe public would have been quoted 8k for this !!!

And another £3k to move a boiler?

I had an downstairs back boiler removed, a combi installed in the loft and all pipework done, for well under half of that! Just moving it a couple of feet should be £250 tops!

All prices seem way too high but as mentioned this may depend on the size/quality of the units. There are alot good tradesman sat at home with no work at the moment so labour should be cheaper than it has been for a long time. 3k for the boiler to moved is way too much and the worktop should also be less. I would walk away from these guys and find a local carpenter to fit the kitchen then get a stone specialist to supply and fit the worktop, have you considered a granite splashback instead of tiles?
