I'm thinking about a change, and quite like a few watches in the Kobold range.

Does anyone know anything about them? Are there any dealers anywhere?

Hi,

I bought a Kobold Spirit of America off ebay last year for £600. A bargain as it came with an unworn kobold strap and an unworn titanium strap as well worth $1100 alone.

Bottom line is, there are bargains around but you have to hold out and pounce. They are quite dear IMO and similar watches can be found elsewhere cheaper eg little known german brands sometimes have models with cases that look suspiciously similar.

There are no UK dealers, or in fact any outside of the US and even then, very few outside of Phili. They are quite expensive these days. The SOA is the cheapest at $3200 on a leather strap I think.

Get a 2nd hand one off ebay or watchuseek. Unfortunantly the strong dollar is a bummer.

Good luck. I love mine but my brother nicked it and won't give it back.

Get one and pretend you're Jack Bauer before he sold out for a cheapie MTM.

I'd say the Black Phantom is their best watch. Simply badass, but sadly mega dear, they don't make many watches and have a habit of not producing many of each model to keep prices high.

Just had a look at their current prices.

Mega dear. They seem to be aiming for Rolex prices.

May be better off with a Panerai or Chopard at those prices redface

Yes, they are nice designs but the price is shocking.

I'm glad I got in before the hype went to their heads.

At half the price, they could be on to a winner. The SOA feels like a nice quality watch but not 3k nice, more like $1500 nice like a Seamaster.

Another vote for "nice, but not at that price".

I had a look at the Large Soarway Diver; it's about the same size and rough spec as my PO, so I have a reference point. It's a handsome watch; I like the crown at 4 o'clock, and I think the clean design is refreshing. I really like the square blocky hands, too. Another plus point is the screw bars for easy strap changeover.

However, for me, $4250 is about $2000 too much.

Indeed. Anyone charging that sort of money for a 7750 equipped chrono has either got to be very confident in the strength of their brand, or Rolex.
