So, having picked up my new toy this weekend, i decided to have athorough look at the chassis condition from the comfort of my own garage.

To my concern, I noted that despite the previous owner being charged for a wayxoil treatment at his last service, there was absolutely no evidence of waxoil on the outriggers.

Having spent most of Sunday scarping flaky rust and paint from them, I have given them two coats of hammerite.

Question: How do you coat the top of the tubbing as this cannot be reached by brush. Is it a case of brushing on what you can and then waxoiling what you cant? Any suggesions on protection would be gratefully received

Scrap with flat blade rounded to tube dia.

Make up various hooked wires wrapped with thinly torn rag or pipe cleaners (if you can get them)also thin cut rag (paint dipped) passed over the rail, all these can be used with a rust cure as well smile spray Hammerite with various differnt nozzles fitted from other cans in the garage including ones that take a straw (ie WD40 type) until it drips down (wipe exposed part of rail or leave on for a extra protection/messy look)

Or just do a body off or 4" lift...

Someone on here and I am not sure if he pattented it or not ,but he used a copper tube flattened at one end.
He then made a curved end on the flat bit just slightly bigger than the outrigger tube diameter.
He the stuck some felt on the inside of the curved tube and used this as a brush.

Not tried it my self but i sounds like a good idea.
