Had my card cloned...

Sorry to hear that, I hope the bank covered your £30. It's no suprise though because chip and pin is a joke already. I was in a well known male clothes shop a couple of weeks ago and noticed that not only did the keypad not have a privacy guard over it, but there was a cctv camera looking straight at the till area
It would have been childs play to blow the image up and get the PIN. You don't need to know the 3-digit security code when you use a cashpoint
Bring on retina or fingerprint readers, I have been using biometrics for the last 5 years on my front door and it just works.

I've worked out a finger dancing routine to confuse them

If that was an arcadia group shop, those are there to stop the most common type of theft form their shops...... which involve staff complicity.

No, Hayes, Far worse.
It has a calendar built in and you can set who has access by day of the week and groups. I have several groups on it which include: Friends, Family, Girlfriends, Postman, and Wednesday Night Crew (Boys night). There are specific rules of when you can come in and when you cannot. Boys from boys night can only get in on a Wednesday from 8pm.. friends can only get in on afternoons at weekends, Postman can only get into the hallway to leave parcels (doesn't turn off the alarm, just the front door and hallway sensor), girlfriends can only come in when I am not in the house (ie door is locked and I am not in with anyone else!), family can come in as per girlfriend but not at weekends. It works really well
Mother in law does not do technology and only rings the bell. Perect excuse for not answering it - even TV licensing understood when I said I thought it was the mother in law

Luckily only £30 was deducted, apparently the first deduction is normally a mobile phone 'top up' to see if the card works.

Personally, I'm happy to live somewhere that you don't need anything like that....

I think that was what you were trying to quote.. I don't need that, but as I was a director of a security company, we evaluated one and I fitted to my door. This is effectively a key-less house now, same as cars with cards etc, and it is really usefull when you're either drunk from the local or have a large bunch of keys. I have not had any negative comments about it from people that use it and the kids love it
