Where to camp in May?

Planning on a couple of nights camping in May.

Any reccomendations?

Based in Sheffield but happy to drive for 2/3 hours. Would like the coast but not essential.

Somewhere quiet with a local pub / eatery?

Northumberland - Seahouses / Alnwick / Bamburgh / Lindisfarne.

Some of the best beaches in the world (water's too cold though!), friendly natives, good pubs, excellent fish and chips. Probably about 2 hours from yours.

A good 3 hours I'd say for Alnick / Bamburgh. Beautiful places and as said, good beaches.

Runswick Bay or Robin Hood Bay, both North Yorks. Good fish'n'chips and some decent pubs. Good walking too.

Go to you local bookshop/outdoor shop and browse the book "Cool Camping (England)" or buy it.

How about the north yorkshire moors? Not too far, there are area's where you can pitch for free, or at least thats what we did.

Decent pub with decentish food in goathland, or fish and chips in whitby. Some good roads straight outta the tent too, get up at first sun and enjoy!

North Yorkshire Moors isn't too far to drive and has tons of options.

That place is worth a look, good facilities, close to whitby and lots of touristy stuff and a nice walk back uphill from the pubs in Robin Hoods Bay.

That place is a bit more basic but also just behind the 'Aidensfield Arms' (Goathland Hotel) for that pretending to be Greengrass pint.

If you are more bothered about good beer, food and roads, than facilities then This is worth a look. In the middle of one of the bestest driving roads in the area and one of my all time favourite pubs.
