Meta Flipper

I've have been talking to the owner of a N reg Griff 500 which has a Meta alarm. It apparently works fine but whilst he has 2 flippers only one works, the former owner saying it needs a new battery. He has put a new battery in it but still not working. I'm not sure if he has the code or not but can anyone tell me:
- if the battery fails in the flipper can it just be replaced without reprogramming (ie just put one in and all is fine)?
- if the 2nd flipper is broken can I get a new one without the code by using the working one or is it more major than that?

Hopefully the owner will have a red card plastic card in his service book that has the code that will allow the reprogramming in all cases the man to contact is Meta alarm guru Carl Baker of Car and Bike installations
