So the Mum of the kid that killed Rhys Jones has finally admitted lying. However, it strikes me that it's a bit late now, given it's been established that she lied, and she has had the benefit of her lies (making the case against he son more difficult) as well as probably incurring costs to the tax payer. So will she get a reduced sentence for pleading guilty?

I hadn't realised that there was such a web of lies around the whole case!
Clearly a parent will do pretty much anything to defend their child, but my god, it seems that this lot has little or no thought to what has happened. To be honest, I can safely say that I would assist the Police in such situations. I may not make it easy and I would certainly have a solicitor working for my child's protection, but I wouldn't go to such lengths of perverting the course of justice.
I can't see a reduced sentence coming. OK, plead guilty so that's a good mark. But not necessarily indicative of a reduced sentence. Looking at a year or so I would think. By the sounds of what the judge has said, its an instant custodial sentence and pretty serious too. Not good. Then again, shouldn't have lied and perverted the course of justice.
I don't have much sympathy I am afraid.

I know for a FACT that I would NEVER have allowed my parents to lie for me on this.If I did it, I did it. I'd take my medicine. I CERTAINLY wouldn't ask my Mum to lie, and end up in prison.

if you were that sort fo person I'm sure you would want everyone who might possibly influence the case to lie on your behalf.

Yes I would. Trouble is if you are of good ethics in the first place this scenario would not occur. Scum parents lead to scum kids. I remember breaking a neighbours window as a child and my father marched me round to apologise and to agree to pay. These parents let their kids get up to all sorts, never give them boundries and THEN try to protect them when they break the law to avoid the consequences of their actions.If you never have to pay, you'll never have to learn!
