Tax ran out yesterday, went out in car today, may have passed a tax camera on M42. Any ideas how they work, do they actually take pic or just 'read' numberplate. Will be getting tax disc on Monday, just forgot! No excuse I know but I will be V.P***ed if I get a fine etc.

Yesterday was 31st Oct. when did tax run out? at end of month? if so the new one will be back dated to the 1st nov so nothing to worry about.

I'd be suprised if you get stung because the tax is a matter of hours out of date.

I would imagine (although given the state of law enforcement against the motorist I could well be wrong!) that they are targetting drivers who try and skip a month or two.

Hmm, what i was thinking though.....if its all computerised then.....camera nabs car, sends data to computer which reads as "Date 1/11/03 is vehicle currently taxed....No....send fine then"

Maybe I'm paranoid, but hey I'm a motorist!

Although the Police now say there is no 14 day grace in practice there needs to be because the post office are SO SLOW in doing the paperwork

That's when they aren't striking because they don't enjoy the job anymore
