What are people in the know suggesting for the evo? I have been on Michelin Pilot Sports for last 2 years. Rears are fine for now but I need new fronts.

Any suggestions? Will match up the new fronts with corresponding rears in due course.

Can of worms aside....
I've been happy with Kuhmo Ecsta KU31's...
There's a tyre review sticky somewhere...

Thanks Cactussed. Found that sticky but it's across so many models to really make sense to an M3 driver.

I've tried a few types of tyres, and I think the Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics are fantastic.

I've had them on the back of my M3 Evo for a while now, and they provide the most grip out of any of the tyres I've tried.
(Including a track day at Snetterton which was wet in the morning and dry in the afternoon)

I've just ordered a set for the front, which are £106 each including fitting/balancing from my local tyre place.

I've recently gone from PS2s to the Goodyears and have to say I've been very impressed so far, very predictable and progressive when the back steps out. They're excellent in the wet and seem better at dealing with standing water, but that's perhaps more to do with moving from a worn set to s fresh set.

I certainly recommend them, particularly given how much cheaper they are than the Michelins

+1 but "GSD's" they are brilliant and look much better than the assymetrics!
oh and i've gone for 255 on the back. Fit perfectly, don't rub at all and look fatter rolleyes

Interested to know what you think of them, Guy. They're the one tyre that always gets recommended but I've never tried.

Personally, I'm a big, big fan of the Toyo T1-R for a combination of road and track use, but you tend not to get too many miles out of a set.

I've been happy with either the toyo T1R's or the Dunlop sport max's i've had on my Evo over the last year or so.

Only tyre I didn't feel was up to the job was the falken 452 (i think thats the right number) on the rear as they just didn't get good enough grip when trying to put the power down.

AM-BM, have you tried the Assymetrics?

They are a noticeable improvement over the GSD3's in all areas. I think you'd like them.

(Looks don't really come high on my list of priorities when it comes to tyres) smile

Well, tyres fitted followed by a 1000 mile round trip to Le Mans and back. Obviously mainly a dull motorway pile but I was happy with grip on the few twisties I was on. Nurburgring for Easter weekend will be the good test. Definately quieter on the motorway than the michelin pilots sports they replaced. The noise from my Scorpion box sounded more apparent. Not sure on economy but given I cruised at 140kmh (90mph) all the way there and back including several full bore accelleration runs I was happy with a 27.4mpg average all the way.

No, I had pirelli for 12k and previous owner mileage. They are much better than the P-zero's they replaced. I am impressed with the traction and grip.
May try the assymetrics next then?! Hopefully won't be for a while though!

I've recently fitted Falken FK-452s on the front of my E36 Evo, having been really pleased with them (all round) on my Cerbera 4.5 - no traction issues at all with that car. Could be to do with suspension behaviour with that tyre perhaps?
