Need to sell SORN (2 Years) Cerb
Discussion
As crushing as it is, I have finally come to the realisation that I cannot, for the foreseeable future, afford to put the Cerbera back on the road.
It has been SORN for 2 years, originally because of head-gasket failure.
The car never overheated and turns over fine, it pushed water out of the expansion tank and then failed a HG test.
Anyone have any idea what I can expect for it and where the best place to advertise?

Sorry to hear it.
If you must sell, try your local RO's they may have details of buyers - sell on here as well, more serious type of buyer?
ebay classified (but I wouldn't auction it) & Sprint, which I think is free as well.
Might be worth calling Andy at APM and getting it fixed for a better price?
Good luck,
Donny

Get it advertised on here and then wait for a serious buyer.
If it needs an engine rebuild then that is going to cost a fair bit (especially if heads need replacing).
If you take the cost of a rebuild off the price of a sorted 96 4.2 then I think you might find yourself with a a bit of a low value.
If the chassis is in great nick and the car is dry and everything appears to work still etc then that will help your cause.
I suspect you are going to get some very low offers. But hang in there if you can afford to.

I'm guessing the problem will be that on top the engine work a buyer will be looking at the risk of a multitude of other problems cropping up from having sat. Seals gone on clutch, brakes discs pitted, tyres flatspotted etc etc. It really does depend on the condition of the rest of the car but yes I suspect offers will be seriously low, it's not cost of equivalent minus cost of work really, it's that plus cost for risk of taking it on and finding more nasties. If there is anyway of getting it back on the road even if it's a temporary loan which will get paid off again as soon as sold, then I think you would be quids in doing it that way.
