Hey chaps - I wanted to get some thoughts on different wheel choices. I have a caribbean blue MR2 (look in my profile for a picture) and am thinking of swapping the wheels for some aftermarket 16" ones.
Although its quite "in your face" I am currently thinking white JDM style lightweight rims, most likely Rota Grids.
I have found some examples of similar colour MR2s with white wheels (some have bodykits etc, mine does not)
So - white rims on a blue car, what's the verdict?

What i think is, avoid the rotas! They're crap. I'll see if i can find the pictures of the many broken ones. I take it you want the TE37 looks but at the grid price?
White wheels are the business though. As long as your car is low enough and the offset is correct they look the dugs baws.
I'm going for white wheels on my celica and the track wheels for the Mr2 are gonna be white aswell.

I've heard some mixed things about Rotas, but mainly from people talking about using them for track work - can you point me to some trusted info? I must be honest considering a set of rota replicas at £500 vs some genuine Work Meisters or Volk TE37s at £1600 is pretty tempting!!!White wheels are the business though. Very nice! Whereforth doth these JDM bargains come? I snoop around the MR2 and Skyline (the Skyline boys in particular often dump perfectly good smaller JDM wheels for 18" bling nonsense when they land an import) forums.
I wonder how much it would cost to slow-ship some wheels from Japan? I have a mate out there who is into cars, and the prices they pay are, frankly, hilarious compared to our UK prices.

I looked into this using the Rinkya service. Back when the exchange rate was good you could pick up a wide range of JDM lovelies for £300 or so, but the shipping was £30-50, per wheel!RB Motoring is worth looking at. Shame the Pound is in a bad way right now.

mite get them for my roadster

I've got a Blue Celica and in my opinion the white wheels are the thing that make the car, they are my pride and joy. Can't post a pic now as photobucket etc is banned at work, but in my opinion white wheels on blue cars look great.
Just a case of choosing which wheels to go for now, but definately go for white
