Lights in the sky

slimbridge on 14th feb wife was taking pictures of starlings coming into roost and we didnt see the lights untill we got them onto the pc











All taken within a minute of each other, any ideas-the are not reflected light picture no1 shows them behind the tree.

Venus doesn't move that quickly. It's probably a plane, I see similar here when it's overcast with light aircraft flying around Panshanger.

All of them have a lamp in the foreground which is diametrically opposite the sky light. Could be a lens flare-like effect...


Which only affects one lamp...


Which may not be the "dominant" lamp in the picture...


Oh well!

Actually, I can see two sky lights in the picture which has two lamps; therefore I'm very sure it's lens flare.

It's actually losing height between 2 shots taken from the same angle.

Aliens come to laugh at us.

So can I now - explains why you didn't see them when you took the picture too

Okay, here's a diagrammatic indication that it's lens flare:



As all of the lights are in the exact opposite side of the image, connecting lines between them should pass through the centre - which they do (I've not done it 100% accurately, but, to me, it's close enough).
