Optician Job Paths
Discussion
Hi,
My GF is looking to change jobs, she is currently working at a major optical lens company and is looking to move into an opticians role.
She has the qualifications to be a dispensing optician to adults at the moment but not a full optical degree.
Does anyone know of any highstreet chains that may take her on and provide the training she needs to get the full opticians job? Or is it a case of going to uni for a couple years to get the peice of paper?
If anyone has any advice and knows about this area of work please feel free to message me

I would imagine it's back to Manchester/Bradford/City and do the degree on her own.
I haven't been in the market for a year or so, but when I left there were plenty of Optometrists around so not much need to add benefits like sponsoring. That might have changed now, though.
On a personal level, if it was me, I wouldn't want to be tied into a multiple, anyway. You could either find a job with a good independent or become a locum, I suppose.
