Family Law in Scotland

Mate of mine may be in a position where he needs to see a divorce / family lawyer urgently. He is in London, rest of the family, including wife and kids are up there. Does he need to speak to a Scottish lawyer? I know Scottish Law is sometimes different to English but no idea in this case.
