The so-called "war against terror" is being used in the UK as nothing less than "war against dissent". It's pathetic the way law after law is being made to stop anyone questioning or challenging what the government, local authorities etc decide they want to do.

As Dame Stella whiles away her state funded retirement in sunnier climes, reflecting a past carreer
built on anti - Soviet paranoia and the troubles in Ulster , she should realise what a bloody easy ride she had.
No home-grown suicide bombers to deal with in her day and the IRA weren't really that difficult to keep tabs on.
What's she giving interviews for now? Promoting another volume of her memoirs?

The other repost to this is that we are suggesting that our politicians and government have the collective brains, intelligence and wit to actually string together a plan of action and subsequently execute it, being careful to retain the fear of terror. I think we are actually being rather generous here and the fact that our illustrious leaders couldn't fight their way out of paper bag suggests that this is just merely wishful thinking.
I think the reality is rather mixed, but to suggest this is all part of a carefully instigated plan is a little far fetched.
