A friend of mine who I have to call occasionally has an Orange mobile phone, nothing too unusual in that, BUT when I ring it, not only do I hear the usual "ring, ring" but I also get played the theme from The Wizard of Oz"!At his end, it plays whatever ring tone he's set, but whoever's calling him hears this infernal tune while waiting for him to answer!

I've never come across this before, he's spoken to Orange who surprisingly say that it can't be removed. He's had a number of phones, and they all do it, so it's obviously a sim or network feature.....so the question is...how does he get rid of it?

It's costing him business, because a number of people call him, hear the Wizard of Oz, assume the network's faulty and hang up!

A mate of mine used to have the A-Team doing exactly the same. He removed it after being ribbed!

The chap who set it up should know how to do it, I dont think its something you can do.

Surprised customer services hadn't heard of it but maybe there is an option to remove from there.

edit: "You can remove a tune either through the Settings option on Orange World, or by calling 477 and selecting option 3. You can either choose to swop the tune so that it no longer plays when you are called and is stored in your album, or if you like you can delete it from your album. "

It's called a Calling Tune.

He needs to go to Calling Tunes in the Orange web page on his phone.

Ring Tunes, that mobile network who're just known as a number had them a couple of years ago and once they were on you couldnt get rid of them AFAIK, only change them to something else.

Thank you all, particularly Poledriver as we were unsure exactly what size sledgehammer to use if plan a failed....but it didn't and as usual, the font of all knowledge that PH is has come up trumps!

See, I think you've gained false hope there. WHEN your mate gets a new phone to replace the one in pieces, that blasted tune will still be there! Its not a phone option, its on the network smile

Still, Poledrivers solution would definately be the most satisfying.
