how much should it cost?

just wondering how much it would cost to replace a alternator on a ford focus st mk2? i have been told that as its a volvo engine in a focus body its a right pain in thhe arse to get to and hence they have to pull ost of bits out or pull the engine out to get to it? am i being fed a load of tosh or is this correct? My regular garage...they have been fair on price normally but somthing about this led me to believe that somthings up?

They are a pain. Classic modern car. They make the day to day stuff really easy, which in turn makes the stuff that 'never' breaks a right nightmare to get at....someone smashed the window where i had left them to pick it up. then the hire car that i had somone dented it! all in all it cost 150 squid for the labour and therest was parts and window fitting and 55 quid for dent removal!
