Silly girl question

I have just got back from a 6 week dancing contract in spain and want to take the Tuscan for a spin, is there anything i need to do first or do i just start him up, he has been and a accumate thingy and i have 2 green lights on so the battery should be OK.

Just check oil & water leels as usual & give it time to warm up - nothing too drastic needed.

Hopefully handbrake wasn't left on too tight whilst you were away ?

ETA: maybe there just wasn't one because TVR owners are a bit more discerning.

I'd also check your tyre pressures.

If the levels are two low after standing still for a while you may find the car can "drift a bit", or becomes slightly unstable. But to be honest the tyre pressures would have to be out quite a bit for this to happen, but it's worth checking.

As someone has already said oil and water are the main things, give it time to warm up then give it the full BHOONA.

On the tyre front, if yo are regularly going to be leaving you P&J for weeks at a time, you should try and get someone to push it around in the garage. Otherwise you might end up flat spotting your tyres.

how do you check the oil until it is warm??

Just a quick check that there is some at the lower end of the dipstick and not on the garage floor

Obviously not a 'true' level check until warm, but then I don't tend to leave mine that long...

Thanks boys... He started first turn, i did check the water and tyres (i am not that girly) and they were fine. It is so nice to have people like you lot around, that was one of the reasons i got the TVR as i was told the help on here is FANTASTIC. All my love Lucy. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Do you always wash the salt from the car every time you take it out. ?????????????????????

I don't take mine out very much when salt is on the road, the chassis is the major problem, and washing it all off wouldn't be easy without a ramp. Someone on here suggested putting a garden sprinkler under the car that seemed a good idea, provided your electrics aren't affected. Otherwise a quick spray with a hosepipe underneath.
If you're washing of salt from the paintwork, make sure you use plenty of water and spray first with a hopepipe before using a sponge/mit and dry off with a microfibre cloth. Every time .... you'd be very keen... but don't leave it for long periods covered in salt.

As much as I can...car tends to get washed after each trip as it's not my everyday car.

You're right - the pork wouldn't have started first time after 6 weeks in the garage (and it would have gone into negative equity....)

I find it interesting that blokes call their tuscans a she, and this lady calls her tuscan a he.
Check the oil, water - battery will let you know by either starting or not. check tyre pressures,and refuel. If you left the handbrake on, gently rock the car back and forwards with the handbrake off.
Drive off 1 - 2 car lengths and check the ground the car was parked on, noting any oil stains dark ones are likeley to be engine/gbox/diff, lighter ones would be hydraulic (brakes/clutch) if there is any staining then check the levels in car.
Warm "him" up gently and use "him" as you wish!

I have been known to refer to my Tuscan as a he. I tend to view all Tiv's as 'he's' not sure why
