And people are thinking their Audi R8's are worth more on here... not even mentioning the V10 one coming out!

Yeah, basically the Audi R8 is a cheap version of the Lambo.
Personally I`d rather have the Lambo and I think Rogers point is if the Lambos for sale for that type of money the Audi boys are in LaLa land if they are asking a lot more, which they are....

a bargain at 60k but did you notice the service cost - 3 grand for a 15000 miles service, who's kidding who here that it needs to be that expensive.
These cars are normally out of the reach of people that have to ask about servicing costs. I should think more work and more expensive parts are required for such a service than your average car. Does the car need to cost the list price it does? Probably not but people will pay it, same goes for servicing I would think..okgo said:

Yes that's very true. Our Boxster S was very expensive to service in comparison to the Ro but it was expected and never questioned.

I'am sorry but there are a couple of audi r8's around here and they look like humping frogs, as for that coloured panel behind the door, looks like cheap plastic.............could have been made in Aus!!!.
WHS^^^^ and the proportions look wrong to me, the driver seems to be sitting almost on top of the front axle centreline. okgo said:

expensive parts(!) - at 15k miles if it needs much more than an oil change and maybe some brake pads and the odd replacement bush then you'd have to ask questions of the manufacturer about why they are using such cheap parts that fail in such a short time. As for the cost of the car - I think to a certain extent its easier to justify the purchase costs - design of low volume vehicles will result in a much larger proportion of development costs being lumped onto each car so I have no issues with that. Veyron is classic example of that where each car should cost over 5 million due to the development costs.

I really think i would go Audi over Lambo in this case
Really , why? Is it because of the service costs? Surely you don't prefer the look of the Audi?FWIW I spoke to the Financial Controller of a german components group who supplies parts to BMW, MERC etc. They do Bilstein stuff, anyway he said they were bringing manufacturing back into DE because outsourcing to low cost countries was just a waste of money, the materials were crap, the workers were crap, the conditions were crap, they still had to send their best guys there to run the machines and supervise the production etc and the workers would break all the expensive machines and not work them properly etc.
Much better to get Hans with 30 years experience to work the machine and get good quality in Deutchland.
So maybe things will change for the better with the crunch on. (ie) Buy a 2009 model

Why are you lot on here talking about R8's and M6 when its a HSV site if you want to buy German shit thats up to you but do not depress us with it. Also before anyone starts I have to work on BMW and VAG cars and the build quality has gone tits up in the last few years.
someone that posts 10 times in a year really doesnt have the right to criticise what others discuss on the forum. If you don't like what folk talk about then please contribute more to the discussion and give us better things to talk about - a much more positive way of influencing what goes on in here. We're all enthusiasts for the Holden and HSV cars but that doesnt preclude us from being interested in other vehicles.
