Any views? Personally i think Jaguar are still missing out on a massive market here. Reminds me of the old jaguar way of thinking that was "people don't buy a diesel Jaguar".

I agree, they seemed to sell a high percentage of estates in the X-Type range

Infact I feel that is a good car, we have a 3Lt as well as the XKR

SUV's have all but killed of the estate market for cars.

I'd say Jag aren't going in this direction anymore, numbers way too small to bother with. IMHO they are going to concentrate on producing fantastic drivers cars in the form of powerful saloons and coupes. The X-type estate is a hangover from a former (bad) direction of the marque under Ford.

I'd love an XF estate, ideally an XFR estate.
After several jags I now drive a Ford S-max because it works so much better as a family car than any jag I've had.
Can't see an XF estate happening though - perhaps an SUV is the answer (I can certainly see the appeal of sitting up high - you sit up higher 100% of the time whereas the 10% better handling of a lower car only benefits me perhaps 20% of the time when I'm going round corners!)

Don't think Jaguar will ever make an SUV, or rather they already do, Land Rover/Range Rover... It's all one company isn't it?

If you want to sit up higher in a Jaguar, buy an X350.

Jaguars should be low, they should be svelte, sod it, they should be Jaguar like... it's not some dog after all soapbox

A XF estate could be useful though... When it comes time to replace her ladyships MB it would be nice to have a quality alternative. Coz at the moment even though we've had mega problems with it, there is nothing on the market that is an alternative. An XF Estate would would will that void.

Have they?..or rather did they? The SUV market is collapsing on its arse and there is significant demand for large, comfortable estate cars. I have a 5 series touring and all of my friends and peers who own similar cars (E-Class, 5 Series & A6) have all got estate versions.

Everyone seems to like Jaguars and I would dearly love to buy one but I need an estate car.

They are missing a huge trick if they don`t do one...

Indeed, if you want a Jag SUV or Estate, buy a sodding land rover!! They have all the same engines now and a lot of them are made in the same factories.

Someone did a photoshop, I don't think it quite works... kinda takes a bit of the luxury feel away don't you think?

That is gorgeous!

It's a sad testament of saloon car design when all the estates are better looking!
i.e., 5 Series, RS 4, RS 6 etc.

I agree, Jaguar have really lost out by not offering a big estate......

Thicker pillars at the back would stop it looking like it sags over the back wheels. Then it'll be a good'n.

Not just fancy names, do it properly with an opening roof and a gun platform. "I say, outta my way Uberwagon - the Brits have gone gun-ho!"

i love my X-Type estate, and would certainly consider the XF estate when it comes to being replaced (if they did one).

I'm very pleased with my X type estate whcih compliments the XK nicely. An XF estate would be great. Since buying the X type I've seen a lot more estates than SUV's.

For me there are 3 things that don't belong in Jaguars and Ford never understood;

1) 4 wheel drive (Yes I know it was done previous to Ford ownership).

2) V6's. I'm sorry V6 owners but to me it's a V8/straight 6 nothing else. For me a V6 is a poor man's V8.

3) Estates. If I want an estate car I'll buy a volvo. If I want a performance estate (as mentioned) I'll buy an M5 or RS6.

Of course this is just my opinion and apologies in advance to anyone I may have upset (X-type, V6, 4x4 estate owners in particular).

I can't see what is wrong with the concept of an XFR Estate. It would make a much better estate than the petrol BMWs where the torque curve is all wrong for anything but an out and out sports car.

I'd agree about the V6.
Not sure about a V8.

Jag's are 6 in a line sort of cars. One set of six or two if you insist.
V8s are just poor man's V12s. In the same way that you have a 4cylinder engine when you can't afford an straight 6.

I don't see a problem with four wheel drive, even if Jensen did try it with a V8.

Effortless power of a V8 combined with slightly less terrifying fuel economy is a winner for me. I still believe that V8's sound better (For what little you hear in these cars). Straight six just doesn't do it for me but I wouldn't kick one out of the garage.

Apparently the X-type AWD Is very good fun but in my opinion it's just not necessary given the nature of the cars.

But I concede it's definately preference.

I agree

I don't want a SUV

I sit in an armchair to relax in front of the TV etc
I don't want to drive one.
