recently bought a Forester UK Turbo on a 02 plate ( 2002 ) just wondering if any of you guys know what I can do to get more power was thinking of ECU upgrade but didn't really want to spend £500 plus on a remap - also wondering if anyone could confirm what turbo I have don't know if its TD 04 or TD05 ?

First step would usually be to free up the breathing - better flowing exhaust etc.

For starters the ECU is easily mapped as it's a Denso ECU. I've just had a look at a workshop manual for a 2001 and it looks identical to a 2002 WRX to every detail even down to the MAF and Airbox except the turbo so assuming the 2002 turbo Forester has the TF035 Turbo (smaller version of TD04) or TD04L, then it's all pretty straightforward.

I've also just had a look at the ROM(map) for the ECU that i have on my PC and there is a bit of room for manouvre on the mapping side so although you can't add a huge amount of boost changing the timing and fuelling settings will make a big difference too.

If you get a highflow flat panel air filter, snorkus delete modification and get the uppipe swapped for a decat type in the first instance before you get the whole exhaust done mapping will make a huge difference. The turbo boost settings on your standard map are pretty low (super safe) so i'm assuming it's the smaller turbo but even 2 or 3psi more in the right area will make the world of difference.

If you can get the uppipe done at a scooby specialist or buy it and it's simple enough to do it yourself, then do the Snorkus delete mod and changing the air filter is a really simple bit of DIY. If you can get it all done by the 13th March i will be up in Paisley for a couple of days and i could map it for you then. If you don't get the Snorkus mod done i can do that too. Mapping Takes between 2.5 - 4hrs to map it properly on the road. PM me to dicuss this further if you are interested.

Hello

IIRC you have a TF035 turbo

Have a look at
http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f75/02-s-t...

and

PS Before going for more power the first thing I would do is get a bigger rear anti roll bar. A 20mm from an STi Impreza will be a diect swap. It will make soooo much difference to the handling
